In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale

Saw this delightfully horrible b-movie over the weekend. Uwe Boll never fails in making me feel like I wasted eight bucks and two hours of my life (and a buddy bought my ticket). So why did I go? Well, it was fun. It’s like a traffic accident, you really can’t look away, you just want to know how the people involved got to this point, and how they will ever recover. I am sure Jason Statham will just make another Transporter movie, and Uwe Boll always gets money for a new film, so I am sure all involved will do just fine. But should they?

So if you are into b-movies go see it (or what for the DVD). It rips off Lord of the Rings, and even has a group of ninjas and ivy swinging lesbian tree women. The acting is horrendous, but kudos to Ray Liotta and Matthew Lillard for going all out and hamming it up. Their parts were extremely enjoyable and good for one-liners from the audience.

I did have one concern and that was for the family who left the theater after seeing this movie. The three young boys clearly picked the movie out and were brutally disappointed. They said it was worse then Eragon. I can only assume their mother hasn’t taught them the joy of poking fun at bad movies. I can also assume she hasn’t taken a interest in sharpening their cinematic palate. They actually thought this movie had potential…
